Settlement & Community Information*

* BRONZE COMMITMENT
Designate a central location to house settlement and community resource information for staff.
The location maybe a physical or an online space, but it must be easily accessible to all team members.

Why This Commitment?

Frequently sharing community resource information and creating a permanent space where your staff can find up-to-date, relevant news from helping agencies can help foreign-born team members thrive in your organization and our community.

Of particular importance for immigrants, newcomers to Canada, and English language learners, are the free and confidential support services provided by Settlement Services in the Bow Valley and Foreign Worker Support Services. These organizations provide information, services, and referrals that may be critical for your team members’ success in the workplace and in Canada.

When Bow Valley Immigration Partnership consults with newcomers and immigrants, we frequently hear that it can be difficult to find settlement and community information and resources. Foreign-born locals we speak to often say they wish they’d known about important services earlier. Many of the people we consult with suggest that employers can help solve these challenges by sharing more information about the free settlement and community support services available to Bow Valley locals.

Evaluation Plan

To complete this commitment, complete the Community Resources Sign-Up Form by December 31, 2024.

In January 2025, we will:

  1. Check to see if your organization has completed the Community Resources Sign-Up Form.

  2. Ask our partner organizations which workplaces regularly receive and distribute their community information.

  3. Ask to see the the bulletin board, brochure rack, employee intranet, or other central location you use to share settlement and community resources with your team. We’ll look for evidence that it’s accessible by all staff, that it’s maintained and kept current, and that staff know where to find it. If your organization has multiple worksites, we may ask to see more than one location.
