Maha Rasheed (she/her), Recruitment & Onboarding Leader, IKEA Canada
I graduated with a BA from York University in 2010, which was right at the start of the financial crash. Overnight, the job market changed from being candidate driven to employer driven. The future seemed very grim then, and so I can relate to young people today who feel similarly. I accidentally fell into Recruitment and have been in the industry for almost 10 years. I have experienced the industry as a Recruiter and Leader in both national and international staffing firms as well as for two major retail corporations namely The Hudson’s Bay and now IKEA Canada. At IKEA, I serve as a Recruitment & Onboarding Leader where I use my passion for teaching and mentoring all the time, just in different way. I want to share the lessons I’ve learned about managing mental health as you journey through as a job seeker; share job search tips and tricks including interviewing tips; and want to emphasize how important it is to see every opportunity as a worthy growth opportunity, even if it is a part time retail job!
