Why This Commitment?
YWCA Banff’s Upstander Training encourages participants to take an active role in creating a safer workplace and community through being an engaged “upstander”. Upstanders prevent violence by recognizing when a situation could escalate, then stepping up and speaking out to intervene safely. This session also explores sexual harassment and its impacts in the workplace, what contributes to a culture where sexual violence thrives, as well as provides tools that participants can use to be more trauma informed when dealing with difficult situations.
Evaluation Plan
To complete this commitment:
Enroll one or more leaders of your organization (Managers, HR managers, Officers, Directors, CEO, etc.) for a YWCA Banff Upstander Training and complete the training session by December 31, 2023.
Ensure each participant completes a training evaluation form, which includes sharing how the participant plans to apply their learnings in their workplace.
In January 2024, we will ask to see your leader’s Upstander Training Certificate of Completion.
Resources
Option 1: YWCA Banff will offer at least 1 free Upstander Training to the community within the 2023 calendar year. This is tentatively planned for late November or Early December. We will email all WIC signatories when dates for the workshop are finalized.
Option 2: Employers may also book a customized paid session that will be tailored to meet the specific needs of your workplace. If your workplace is interested in this option, please contact neil@ywcabanff.ca.
