Organizational Culture - Commitment 10

The Commitment:

Provide at least one staff member with at least one hour per month of paid time to participate in the BVIP Anti-Racism Community of Practice.

Why This Commitment?

One of the first steps to creating a diverse, inclusive, resilient workplace is to train key leaders in the skills they’ll need to guide and support your Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion journey. Commitments 9 & 10 are designed to support that skill development.

The Bow Valley Anti-Racism Community of Practice is a peer support group for people working to address racism in their organizations within the Bow Valley. Participants will co-design this space and BVIP staff will guide and support the process. The group will meet periodically, identify and access relevant training, and share resources via an online platform (Basecamp).

Being actively anti-racist can be a challenging journey, both personally and professionally. Many local organizations are working on their own initiatives to become more welcoming, inclusive, and anti-racist. The Bow Valley Community of Practice brings people together to learn from one another because no single organization can create community-wide change. By participating in this Community of Practice, participants will have opportunities to learn, share, and collaborate with others on similar journeys.
