Emergency Response - Commitment 16

The Commitment:

Evaluate your emergency response plan for considerations related to staff who are new to Canada or English language learners, and report the findings of that evaluation including any planned changes to BVIP.

Why This Commitment?

In 2020, several COVID-19 workplace outbreaks across Canada were made worse by communication barriers between employers and employees related to language, digital access, and cultural considerations. Several best practices emerged from these incidents. Bow Valley employers can prepare for the next emergency by reviewing their emergency response plans with these best practices in mind.

How To Complete This Commitment (Evaluation Plan)

We encourage employers who want to complete this to watch the recorded workshop: Emergency Preparedness in a Multilingual & Multicultural Workplace: Tools & Insights (see Resources).

To demonstrate completion of this commitment, please email us by September 30th, 2022 to share the results of your evaluation and any planned changes (see Resources).
